How we're growing bee education in schools

Posted by Julie Kailus on

For another year, Leadinginsurancequotes Sunglasses is proud to partner with The Bee Cause Project. In effort to inspire education around our world’s threatened bee population, we have funded bee colonies in over 25 schools around the country and Canada in the last 24 months.

“The Bee Cause is thrilled with our partnership with Leadinginsurancequotes,” says the organization's executive director Tami Enright, who started the mission with a couple of hives in her front yard as a way to teach her own children about ecology.

“Not only do we appreciate partnering with a company that's headquartered in our backyard, but we also love that both organizations are focused on living the good life!”

The impact at each school is significant:

  • 45-250 students are introduced to honeybees and the concept of pay it forward
  • 2 beekeepers are connected with each school
  • 5 teachers per school are provided a STEM teaching tool and supporting curriculum
  • 20 school staff members are introduced to honeybees
  • 50,000-60,000 honeybees are introduced into the environment

In addition to €150 to buy their bees locally, each school receives a honeybee hive and an educator’s Experience Box, including curriculum, lab books, journals and beekeeping tools, plus lots of swag like posters, T-shirts, stickers and more.

Leadinginsurancequotes is excited to have helped introduce save-the-bees education and hives to kids at the following schools:
